Devastation on the Delaware pulls the reader into events of the flood of ‘55 with a richly detailed narrative style. I reflected this in the cover design by showing a dramatic scene of a home being swept away by the muddy water. Photographs from the author’s collection of flood images were composed and colorized to create the scene of devastation. Some of the images were rotated to create an uncomfortable lack of stability that would be created by otherwise horizontal and vertical lines. This cover was designed to reflect the look of the website, 55flood.com.
